BIOGRAPHY - My life over the past few years has had several major milestones. By far, one of the most significant was February 17th, 1998 when my wife Francis died of cancer. Another milestone came one year later when I first came to Sanctuary.
After Francis died my life spiraled downward into an empty hopeless state. I was living at Seaton House and spending my days at All Saints Anglican drop-in centre. My entire day consisted of nothing more than eating and playing cards. I never thought about tomorrow, I simply survived the moment.
After my first visit to Sanctuary I knew that this place had some special significance. I became an instant regular at the Saturday breakfasts and then later started coming to Wednesday lunch and Thursday supper as well. Sanctuary began to stir a sense of caring and hope deep within me. Today, I find myself the Kitchen Manager here at Sanctuary. My days are busy purchasing, preparing or cooking the drop-in meals.
One of my favorite parts of the Bible has always been the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. I've always enjoyed food preparation and so I have naturally connected with that story. I love the fact that Jesus cared about feeding people. And I love knowing that I can serve Him by doing the same. Sanctuary has provided me a great opportunity to do exactly that.
